From Budapest to Croatia.

Me and a few friends are inter-railing late July into August. We want to finish it with a sun holiday. Now my initial idea was go from Budapest to Croatia because Croatia is the closest coastal destination.

Now I'm wondering, are there nice beaches in Croatia? If so whereabouts and what train would take us there..etc?

And if Croatia isn't great for beaches/ a sun holiday where is the closest place we should go from Budapest?

    Thanks :)

I went from Budapest to Croatia last summer by train via Zagreb. We went to rijeka the big city in the north, the are lovely islands off the coast there with buses going to them, one being the island of krk.
Croatia doesn't have a sandy coast, the beaches are more rocky, but don't let that put u off.
We went to a big town in the istrian region close to italy called rovinj, one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.
The coast here was gorgeous, but no sand, instead you had big flat rocks that you lay out on, bit like having your own bed, it worked brilliantly plus there was no sand everywhere. You could have a rock that could fit amfewmpeople or individual ones and people still swam like normal.
I would go back tomorrow if I had a chance, Croatia is wonderful

no sand does have alot of advantages, lovely clear water and no sand in your hole etc.
if you need to fly home to dublin though you might want to go somewhere more south as dubrovnik is the only place you can fly direct to ireland
