I'm currently unemployed and actively looking for employment.
I went for an interview with a large multinational company through a recruitment agency. they have 2 vacancies in the same dept. The interview went really well

I was told i wouldnt hear anything for 2 weeks, as they had visitors coming over for a week, and the boss was going away the following week.
Recruit agency rang me with excellent feedback, saying the company were very impressed with me and they feel i would be the ideal candidate for one of the positions. They would be calling me back for a 2nd interview, but would be in touch with a date and time for the 2nd interview.
After patiently waiting for the 2 weeks, i contacted the recruitment agency asking bout the 2nd interview, he said the company are very busy at the moment but that they definetly are interested in me. i rang a week later after still no word and was told, 'the boss is abroad at the moment, but they arent doing 2nd interviews now, they are just going to give out 3 job offers and will let me know.
It's been 4 and a half weeks now and still no word. If they just said out straight 'No' then fair enough, but im been strung along. I dont know where i stand. its head wrecking. Im sick of ringing the recruitment agency, they know as much as me.

How long is a piece of string?

No one knows how long, it depends on so many variables. With people taking vacations, people traveling for business getting the right people in the right places at the right time to make decisions can be a challenge. It sucks, but I'm sure many people have been in a similar position. You just got to sit tight and wait.

HP/CPL by any chance? I know someone who interviewed and was offered the job 4 months later.

With multinationals the recruitment process can be slow and fustrating. In my current job it was 4 months from first interview to job offer so be patient, they will get back to you.
