    Folks,

Just wondering has anyone here recently dealt with Green Isle Autos?

Read some threads from ages ago and the feedback isnt great.

Any insight would be great before I make a call on a purchase.

    Nice one.

    Hey,

A friend of mine bought a car from Green Isle Autos and it was a very big mistake. The car was crashed and they lied about it being written off. The car is now (and always has been) unfit to drive. It's now going to court and that's hassle nobody needs. My advice is to stay well clear of Green Isle Autos!

Oh this old gem again... OP run, run like you never ran before. Can not believe this place is still open.

    Hi

I bought a car off Green Isle Autos 6 weeks ago and the engine has gone in it, broke down in a puff of smoke on the N7 yesterday. Reputable garage advised me that the engine needs to be replaced. I only had a month of warranty so it is out of warranty.

Green Isle Autos say I need to get the car towed from Kildare where I broke down to them in Tallaght so they can have a look at it. I'm obviously reluctant because from their attitude this morning I am not confident that they will take any action, and I may just be incurring more cost.

I was in with them a while ago to have a test drive. They seemed nice enough even did a check on my car and gave me the report.

Maybe I'm tarring all with the same brush but I wouldn't buy a car off ANY of the s/h dealers on the Naas rd!

I'm the same, I don't really care who they are, I just won't buy there.

To those who responded, you know who you are, many thanks for sharing, happy to reciprocate in any way that I can by sharing my personal experience with Green Isle Autos.

Just a little update, I had my mother drive me out to green isle autos, broomhill road today, as I am still without a car, total pain while moving house. Very mixed response, one of the managers was aggressive from the outset but the guy I actually bought the car off seemed like he might potentially be reasonable.

I am expecting a callback on Tuesday, i ll keep you posted.

hardly......any case will be handled/treated on an individual basis, all the way up to court.

indeed you are correct, but information of other people experiencing similar problems with the same company may aid in a more favourable outcome for me!

or at least that is what the woman from the national consumer agency said!

You have legal come back under the "sale of goods act" . The normal warranty period for a used car is 3-6 months, depending on the age. The exact time frame is not specified in the act but it does state that the warranty must be for a reasonable duration.

I would let them know that the engine has failed and see if they will fix it for you. However, as this dealer doesn't have the best reputation I doubt they will entertain you. If they refuse to repair it under "the Sale Of Goods Act" tell them you have no choice but to go to court. If they blab on that its a trade sale to try toi get out of it, its BS as you are not in the trade so its covered under the Act.

    Go talk to your solicitor.

    Hi All

Thanks for the recos. Pleased to report that I am close to an amicable solution with Green Isle. Hoping to be resolved by next week.

As I only paid €1850 for car I didnt really want to go down the legal route but negotiations with Green Isle are progressing well at this point.

    Best wishes
    Niamh

Niamh bear in mind this a public forum, it might be a good idea to not give too much info away until the matter is resolved.

Seems to be a few people posting on the thread with coincidentally a very low post count.

Is it fair that people can come on and anonymously claim to have had issues with any trade outlet, without any evidence that there was a problem at all?

I've nothing to do with the outlet under discussion but if I was running it or any other outlet that is cited on here as being a poor service provider, I'd have a serious issue with mouthing off on a forum such as this that would without a doubt have a serious impact on my business, especially any completely unproven opinions passed from behind a cloak of anonymity.
