    Hi all,

Just a quick question, is annual car tax an allowable expense for self employment?

Yes, but if the car is used for personal purposes as well as business there is an adjustment to the allowable proportion as there is with all motor expenses for the year. Incidentally the same applies for Telephone and Light and Heat where home is used as the base for the business.

Thanks, was thinking it was allowable but wasn't sure. Is there any set or general proportion amount or is it really on a case-by-case basis?

There is no set proportion. It depends on the circumstances of each individual.
