I have no doubt there will be no-one held to account for what was one of the biggest fiascos involving any state agency.

Just to remind people, Sean Fitzpatrick was on both the board of the docklands authority and chairman of Anglo Irish bank who loaned money for the glass bottle site purchase, but the whole board are culpable.

I'd imagine that during such a wind up, alot of documents and other records of just what went on in the DDDA might go missing.

Cannot see Niamh Brennan falling on her sword

Probably because she was the person who cleaned up the mess rather than caused it.

The main problem is that the government was involved in the first place.

How is it legal for a chairman of a bank to sit on a local govt body while awarding loands to the same?

More to the point, have we done anything from a regulatory perspective to prevent this happening again ?

    Full story here:

    http://www.independent.ie/national-news/senior-civil-servant-on-docklands-board-when-site-bought-3125988.html

Turns out that a senior civil servant was sitting on the DDDA board at the time. Naturally the civil servant in question is currently residing in that center of probity the department of finance...

"Accountability" will no doubt occur when the next vacant tax free position opens up in the EU and she can be shuffled off to Brussels to join her ex dept of finance buddy Kevin Cardiff.
