I've never owned an electric trolley, always either carried or used a push trolley. Been thinking of perhaps getting an electric trolley.

Have seen the different versions and seen that the lithium battery versions are very expensive. Anyone here own a lithium version?

Just wondering what are the main benefits and are they worth the money

Don't own one, but from what I know the battery is lighter and smaller, so easier to load onto the trolley from your car, etc. Personally I don't think they're worth the money.

Looking at around €600 mark. I haven't used one so can't comment

Recently got one with a motocaddy s1pro. Top trolley. Lithium fully charges in about 3 hours. Lasts 36 holes. Is very light. Main selling point for me (having bought two lead acid batteries over the last two years) is that they are supposed to last five times longer over their lifetime.

Have the Powakaddy freeway II, with the lithium battery. Not sure its worth the money, if I was buying again I would consider the Motocaddy S1 Pro, its cheaper and better in my opinion.
    1. Speed regulation on PK is ****e, increments are too far apart.
    2. Start/stop button is not sensitive enough, if in idle, two presses needed to start.
    3. Battery is 18 hole, you might get 24 on a flat course.
    4. Its not possible to charge the battery in the trolley, a bit of a design overlook, for the feature where you can fold the trolley with battery installed, but as its only an 18 hole battery you have to unfold to remove for charging after every round.
    5. It was €100 more than the lithium powered better equipped S1 from Motocaddy. (not available at time of purchase of freeway II)

I like the look of the Motocaddy trolley, looks well. I guess if they last 5 times longer it can be seen as a long term investment

Motocaddy lithium battery has a 5 yr guarantee. That has to be worth the extra money alone.

Is there something about lithium batteries that they can get seriously damaged if left charging too long?

dont think so. i leave mine on charge at all times

I only bought the 18 hole version but would get round twice if ur course is not very hilly. I play at killarney and have no prob getting 2 rounds out of it but didnt get round ballybunion twice died on the 14th of the second round. Hope this helps

I've a Golf Glider and a battery lasts me about 5 years, two in two years seems mad, playing an average of twice a week except for Nov-Feb

Is there such a thing as an 18 hole lithium and 36 hole lithium?

Also maybe a stupid question but did you then have to push your trolley for rest of the round in ballybunion ?

There is a 36 hole lithium battery. 18 hole lithium is the most popular due to price but if u play a vry hilly course do not expect to get 36 holes from a 18 hole battery.
Guarantee is for battery to do 18 holes.

and yes i did push it the rest of the way but at least the battery doesnt at much weight

The instructions on my lithium battery do make it very clear that you unplug the battery when fully charged (after 3 to 4 hours). Maybe it's different for different lithium batteries but I doubt it. I have one of those timer plugs on it so it just turns itself off after 4-5 hours.

Yeah maybe I was just unlucky with a battery. On the other hand I play on average four times a week so maybe they were just giving up the ghost!!
