Saw this on another forum, as was said there, $30,000 dollars for 24hr coverage on a popular news channel.

So maybe Aer Lingus do have the marketing in them?

I'm guessing this is helmet and pads football. Nice of them to give 35,000. That's some air-hostess's salary there!:p

Marketing is everything. Those who don't realise this go out of business. All too often aviation is run on the basis that everyone realises how cool flying is.

It's not true. Ryanair is the typical example. But recently I was really annoyed to see a potential goldmine shipped to England on the back of a truck because the pilot involved had no idea of marketing.

He could have made a fortune. But he was a stupid pilot not a businessman.

And if EI get 60+ bookings from friends and family based on such a well publicized PR move then they will have justified the investment.

    35,000 that's tax deductable I'm sure.

I'd say Aer Lingus snapped their hand off when they heard about this teams plight. They really seem to be trying to push their Dublin-Boston route at the moment. You can't beat that level of exposure on national TV in the US.

I wonder if this is an ever little counts move with an eye on this new Transatlantic route that is allegedly in the pipe line?

Was there not a suggestion of a new route to the East Coast of North America?

It is reasons like this I always fly Aer Lingus on their routes and not the likes of Ryanair. It was good PR but more importantly it shows the company has a moral ethical side unlike "nail the customer" everything bean counter driven Ryanair.
