Paypal "Donate" buttons and tax...

    Howdy,

Not sure if this is the right sub-forum :)

So I've been working on a small web application for my own purposes, and I'm thinking about making it publicly available.

To help cover hosting costs, I was also thinking about putting one of those PayPal "Donate" buttons on the site... but I'm assuming I'd have to start doing some special tax-related stuff as a result?

Basically just wondering if anyone has any experience of doing something similar, and what I might have to do to avoid ticking-off Mr Taxman...

    Cheers!

    John

Doing a bit more research, is there any special tax-exemption or status in Ireland for "cash gifts"? In other countries (read: US) voluntary PayPal donations to individuals for personal usage fall under the cash-gift category...

    Cheers,

    John
