Incident at Dublin Airport 30/5/12???????

Was there some kind of incident at Dublin airport today (30/5/12)?
I was going by the airport at 18:15 and aircraft were taking off and landing using Runway 34. I thought this runway was only used like this when there is a strong wind from the south east and hence making things difficult for using the main runway. There was only a light breeze at the time. Also there was 4 or 5 guys walking slowly up the main runway and they looked to be looking for something, possibly debris from something, that meant the main runway was closed.
I found this a little strange and thought maybe there was some kind of incident.

    Anybody got any info.

    Thanks in advance.

It was a planned closure for an hour according to a NOTAM today:

    + RWY 10/28 CLOSED
    FROM: 30 MAY 2012 17:00 TO: 30 MAY 2012 18:00

    (18.00 - 19.00 local)

I noted some departures off 16 (i.e. southbound) during the closure period.

As above, 10/28 was notam'ed closed. These are essential runway inspections as the runway surface isn't in the best of condition. And it was rwy 16 that was used during the closure

Take it a long term solution has yet to be taken on the problem. Only a certain amount of inspections can be carried out before something needs to be done.

I stand corrected, it was runway 16 that was in use, not 34, as I previously stated.

    The recession

It got planning permission, it'll be 28/10 or 10/28L / 10/28R if built, will be roughly where the closed 11/29 is in situ now. But dropping traffic meant the DAA didn't proceed with it.

I guessed that may have happened.

Is 11/29 closed now? I could have sworn not too long ago I saw an Aer Arran ATR on approach to it, although I suspect I was mistaken, but he did look like he was landing there!

Runway 11/29 is definitely closed and is used for aircraft parking as required. A section of it was temporarily opened for a day or two in May last year for a light aircraft fly-in during Aer Lingus's 75th anniversary celebrations.

Wonder what the ATR was up to then!

Maybe they were doing some practice approaches and going round off them. Kinda odd!
