How to park in this situation?

Hey, drove my car today from free parking in blancherstown to my house in city centre (got parking finally). And I ran into this problem:

Number 17 is me. And my car is parked now like that, because I coulnd't get in any better. First I wanted to park by back, but ended up parking by front, now I have to reverse out. The guy on #16 probably got used to that parking spot being free for past few months so he kept parking like that, I mean look he has literally no space on his right, but has like a metre on left side, wtf. The red dotted line is showing how I was looping around there, took me like 10 minutes and it was my first parking in such tight space. How should I go with this? The #3 wasn't there at time being so I was able to drive in and out. What should I do? Should I stick yellow note on the #16 car saying to move a bit or what? if I reversed into parking I couldn't get out, nor he could get in later, so I had to put angled like that.

    Ideas?

Firstly, this is not a smart answer.

You should go to an empty car park in the evenings and practice till you can confidently get you car into a standard space. 'Its the best I can do' is not what other drivers want to hear when you've taken the last available space with your front bumper. Not that they'll hear, because you won't be there to explain. They'll just think 'tosser'.

Seriously, its not difficult. Just practise. What I would do in that situation is to not park there like that.

    Best of luck.;)

oh forgot to say: it's my spot, I dont have choice, either I park on it or I pay 12 euro for parking outside on busy city centre street.

Your line looks a bit odd too. Pull up in the centre of the lane, just ahead of 16's passenger side (lets presume he's parked boot in), drop your right hand and reverse in slowly.

Its a standard manouvre, and one you'll need all your life. Can be a bit daunting at first but you'll get it with a bit of practise. I know it can be worrying, thinking you might bump somebody's car. Do the practise thing in an empty car park. If you can slot it between two lines, you can slot it between two cars. Then you can join the rest of us bitchin about dodgy parkers! ;)

If I did what you said I couldn't get out of car then because door would be literally 5 cm from his.

Oh, just got that bit! Leave a note on the windscreen. Politely explain the difficulty and ask that they leave you a bit of space is what I would do. They might just have gotten lazy over time. Don't forget to warn them that you're only learning! They might shift over if they were worried about picking up a bump....

Well my parking spot was free and unused for like half a year, don't know if guy got used to no one being there

I really should read more carefully! It sounded like a confidence thing on your part. Welcome to the bitchin about crappy parkers gang. I think the windscreen note is the way to go. Polite and breezy. A 'hi there' kind of thing. Or if the space is attached to a particular residence you could knock on the door and show them the problem? Otherwise, maybe a note from the management company, if there is one...

well yeah, first I reversed into that space with no problem, only when I turned engine off I realized I won't be able to open door, obviously I could crawl out through passengers side, but didn't want really.

Still, its yours now. He'll have to get used to it. Firm with a smile is the way to go. I'm sure the space is costing you. Its yours to use, and you should be able to use it. All it takes is somebody else tightening up their game, and they'd have to be a bit of a pr1ck not to.

There you go. 65 sheets a month must be worth a note at least...?

Any chance to post a true picture OP? Your drawing does not give enough info, tbh...
