On the top right of any forum topic is a "Search this thread" option. On a thread with hundreds or even over a thousand posts it's potentially useful to help find that post that you know you saw on the thread before but now can't find.

However it doesn't seem to work. If you click the option and select "Advanced" to enter more criteria (such as poster name) it bumps you out into the Boards search function so that now, instead of just searching the one thread, you're suddenly searching all of boards.

So is the "Search this thread" function borked? Or is there some other way to get it to work?

I wrote a Greasemonkey script for this exact problem. It lets you use the new advanced search from "Search this thread". See the post here. There's instructions for installing it in post 1 of that thread
