SmackDown opens up with World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus. He talks about No Way Out and Alberto Del Rio. David Otunga comes out and demands an apology for Sheamus running over John Laurinaitis two weeks ago. Sheamus refuses and out comes Del Rio. Otunga announces that Del Rio will be able to pick the opponent for Sheamus tonight. Otunga ends up laid out after a Brogue Kick and Del Rio flees the ring.

Sin Cara returns with new red and white gear and new pyro. He defeats Heath Slater in a decent match with no botches.

Hype for tonight's WWE Title Match with Kane vs. CM Punk.

Ezekiel Jackson comes out followed by Damien Sandow. Sandow cuts a promo and refuses to wrestle. He leaves but Zeke brings him back to the ring. Sandow ends up defeating Jackson with his neckbreaker finisher.

Backstage segment with Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler wants to face Sheamus tonight and Del Rio picks him as the opponent.

Ryback defeated two local wrestlers in another squash match.

Vickie Guerrero comes out with Dolph Ziggler and cuts a promo on Sheamus.

Sheamus defeated Dolph Ziggler after a Brogue Kick. Jack Swagger interfered but it backfired and allowed Sheamus to get the win.

Zack Ryder and Santino Marella defeated Darren Young and Titus O'Neil in under 2 minutes. Big Show came out after the match and beat up Santino on the stage, throwing him into the set. Show went and beat up Ryder next. Show knocked Santino out with a knockout punch as the crowd bood.

Daniel Bryan is backstage trying to convince AJ Lee that CM Punk is using her.

Cody Rhodes defeated Tyson Kidd in a quick match. Christian was on commentary and they had words after the match.

CM Punk and Kane went to a DQ when Daniel Bryan interfered. Bryan attacked them both until Kane came back with a double chokeslam. John Laurinaitis interrupted things and announced a three-way for No Way Out for the WWE Title. AJ ended up in the ring with Bryan and Punk. She left by herself and Bryan slapped Punk. Punk closed the show with a GTS on Bryan.

    More details:

Booker T came out to a massive pop, while Michael Cole drew the usual massive heat. Lilian Garcia received nice applause.

There was a notable statement during the opening video. They said the WWE Championship will be defended for the first time on Smackdown in four years. They claimed it was eight years on Monday's Raw, so which is it?

Sheamus is out first to address World Hvt. Championship match with Alberto Del Rio at No Way Out. David Otunga came out to interrupt him. He set up a replay Sheamus bowling over John Laurinaitis when he ran out to help John Cena on Raw last week. He demanded an apology. Sheamus rebuffed him.

Alberto Del Rio came out to add his two cents. Otunga stated that Del Rio would be allowed to pick Sheamus's opponent for the night. Sheamus Brogue Kicked the hell out of Otunga. Del Rio bailed and Sheamus stood tall in the ring.

    1. Sin Cara defeated Heath Slater. Sin Cara came out with new red and white ring attire and a new pyro set entrance but with the same strip club lighting. Sin Cara won with a tilt-a-whirl face buster on Slater. No botches except for a small awkward spot when his foot was caught under the rope.

There was hype for the WWE Championship match for later in the show.

Ezekiel Jackson still has a job, as he came out. Damien Sandow followed and took the mic for a promo. He blew off the match, but Zeke tossed him back in the ring and the match was underway.

    2. Damien Sandow defeated Ezekiel Jackson. They traded offense and Sandow finished with his neckbreaker. He did a cartwheel in the ring.

There was a backstage segment between Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio. Ziggler wanted to be Sheamus's opponent and got his wish. Ryback is up next. Joy.

    3. Ryback beat two jobbers. The jobbers were billed as being from Alabama, so they chanted Roll Tide Roll. In Baton Rouge, that's the cheapest kind of heat. Ryback destroyed them with a double Muscle Buster and there were plenty of Goldberg chants.

Vickie Guerrero came out with Dolph Ziggler and vowed to end Sheamus tonight. At this point, all we've really gotten is matches and one backstage segment, so it will be a wrestling heavy show for Friday's television show or they'll tape other segments later and add them in. Sheamus came out to another massive pop. He's really over.

    4. Sheamus defeated Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero). The action came at a decent pace with Ziggler hitting a top rope facebuster on Sheamus. Jack Swagger ran out to help Ziggler and messed him up. He ate a Brogue Kick to end the match. You'd think a cannon went off and shot Dolph with the way he sold it. Good match. The crowd was very into the match.

Darren Young and Titus O'Neil come out for a tag match. We get a backstage segment with Striker and Punk putting over the WWE Title match. Santino Marella and Zack Ryder came out. Hey, a Ryder sighting!!!

    5. Santino Marella and Zack Ryder defeated Darren Young and Titus O'Neil. Santino got a roll up in less than two minutes. Big Show came out and tossed Marella into the WWE sign on the stage. Ryder got tossed around ringside as Titus and Darren exited the arena. Show took the bigger half of the ring steps up the ramp and slammed Ryder on them. Santino got the same treatment on the steps with a Camel Clutch. Show hit him with a WMD to massive heat. Show stared out at the crowd before leaving.

There was a backstage segment with Daniel Bryan telling A.J. that C.M. Punk is only using her.

    6. Cody Rhodes defeated Tyson Kidd. Poor Tyson didn't even get a ring entrance for the live crowd. He deserves better. A nice fast paced match. Cody won in less than two minutes. Cody and Christian jawed for a minute after the match.

Kane was shown backstage and the WWE Championship match was up next.

    7. C.M. Punk fought Kane to a DQ finish when Daniel Bryan interfered in a WWE Championship match. Slow and plodding at start. The crowd got into it toward the end. Daniel Bryan ran out. He's way over. Bryan attacked both men, and the red called the bell for a DQ finish. Kane ended up chokeslamming both men at the same time.

Big Johnny comes out and declared the WWE Championship match at No Way Out a Triple Threat match.

Bryan and punk were left in the ring with AJ. Bryan tried to get her to leave with him, but she left without either one of them. Bryan slapped Punk twice. Punk gave Bryan a GTS. The fans loved it.

I don't mind Kane as much as others at least he has no problem doing jobs + putting others over.

Its survived before without him, well done on him for been a big red jobber, but I hate his gimmick, his awful ring work (only Rey can get a good match out of him), be gone Glen Jacobs. :D

Hints of Ziggler turning maybe with Swagger costing him a win

I like Kane is his current, say nothing just beat people up/lose to them to put them over. He is an actual attraction at house shows for example so he has his place.

I don't think he should turn. He clearly needs to get away from Vickie and Swagger and go out on his own. At this stage he needs to be doing his own Promo's. He is well able to talk as seen in his You Tube show, some of his recent in ring Promo's and stuff on Ryders show. I heard rumours of him getting a bodyguard. That would work well.

Death to the Kane detractors! :pac:

I'm getting far too sick of Ryback beating no-names week in, week out. The people he wrestles aren't even that big, making it even less impressive. At least with Tensai he is beating people on the roster.

Disagree on both, Kane detractors are the ones who rock while I like the way they are building Ryback. Chap will have lots of matches soon enough. Dude has mad charisma as well.

I will agree on Ryback. Disliked him the first few weeks. Now I like him.

I reckon they really want to say how many matches Ryback has won, but have held back due to him already getting Goldberg chants every time.

Out of curiousity, does anyone know what his tally is at so far? Goldberg incuded house shows so his should too. Crimson in TNA also but he doesnt even appear every week, let alone wrestle.

Ryback only appeared in April so it can't a high number.

I think maybe they are building to a ryback vs brodus match at a ppv a few months down the line? Both guys going undefeated and could lead to some sort of bragging rights match betweek them... Just a thought!

    Just watched there.

Sheamus v Ziggler is a nice little match.

I know everyone says it but Ziggler should be huge. Hopefully this split from Swagger/Vickie will give him a boost.

Match wise Sheamus has been a real good champion pity he hasn't had a rivalry yet that has any real bite to it. Doubt he and Del rio are going to have a great storyline but the match should be good

Legendary sell of the Brogue Kick by Ziggler.

Was a really good Smackdown. I like how Kane has been inserted into that match. The focus is still on Punk and Bryan, but maybe they will both try to manipulate Kane against the other. Could be interesting!

All Ryback reminds me of is the old days of Superstars when the face/hell would batter the local ham and eggers with their big moves to look good on television.

Just ran through SmackDown. They have a lot of jobber matches. It's actually not the worst idea as it protects newbs and focuses more on their character. lol, it is fun/novel to see Terminator ploughing through hometown jobbers. Sin botchy looked very different in his new attire, and looked a bit slower, i imagine he's still a bit injured/got some ring-rust. Enjoyed Sandow's mannerisms, didn't think I would at the start; reminds me of a cross between Claudio and The Genius lol.

How long can Punk keep his belt? I get the feeling Kane's getting involved so Bryan can squeak a win/the belt without Punk losing. Setting up a rematch next month.

    I really enjoyed Smackdown.

The main event and the way it ended, bringing together the WWE title match fro No way out was really good. I thought Kane performed well in the match itself.

Sheamus v Ziggler was good quality also.

The Cesaro Promo video was well put together. Saying the Future is here is a nice way to build him up.

Glad Sin Cara is back. I wonder if he learned any English yet.

Sandow was impressive again. Hard to believe he used to be Idol Stevens.

Commentary is so much easier to listen to now Cole is putting his energy into burying Booker's commentary rather than the wrestlers:)

Overall Smackdown has a nice Balance to it. All we need now is Mark Henry to return.

Am I the only one that despises Ryback? A cheapo Goldberg who unlike the latter doesn't beat the top guys - which is what made Goldberg interesting - but instead just destroys jobbers. Where's the appeal in that? Oh, and he does the flap flap. What's more annoying is the announcers snorting and snickering when the jobbers cut a promo. It therefore feels to me as more of a burial of jobbers than an effort to get Ryback over.

In other news, Ziggler is still the best at selling the Brogue Kick.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,520 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

If gold, erm ryback was doing that to wrestlers actually employed by WWE I would hate him. As its only jobbers I don't mind. It doesn't excite me nor do I find it terribly interesting. Its harmless filler for me.

I totally understand why people would hate it though.

He's only been there a few months, why would you throw him straight into the deep end and "destory" big names? Better build him up as a beast with guys who have nothing, rather than the Zigglers of the company, then progress him up into a storyline.

I personally really like Ryback, I hope he gets his shot at a feud.
