As the title says I have a 07 golf and it has the stock radio which does not have any aux in. I could get an fm transmitter but the quality isn't great on them, could anyone recommend a place in dublin to buy one of these (http://www.ebay.ie/sch/i.html_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=vw+golf+mk5+aux) or similar? Or if you have a better set up please feel free to share!

From my own experience of wanting music in the car I went for a VW unit called an RNS510 . You could pick one up on ebay for about 500 odd. Totally worth it as you get a 30gb hard drive with an SD slot, a sat nav and loads of other little bits. Its simple to install, plenty of guides on youtube and best of all when its time to sell on you can whip it back out and sell it on again. I bought one from ebay, installed it and when I was changing car I sold it on an Irish vw audi forum for a few quid more than I paid for it.

Sounds like a nice piece of kit but its way too far over my budget. Looking to get something for around the €50-€100 mark and I'll install myself.

Aldi and Lidl sell good systems for very reasonable prices, I got the lidl one a good few years back and it had A2DP, USB, SD, Aux,CD etc. Pretty much anything you could ever want at a very cheap price.

Fair enough, I thought the same myself but I saved up for a few weeks and was sorry I didnt get it earlier. Keep an eye on the vw website, sometimes they have offers such as ipod connection using the official parts as a retrofit...

Check out vagdrivers.net too, you never know you may find ideas there or gear for sale that may suit

But they require a double din adaptor and look a little ridiculous in the middle of a sea of plastic as they will in a Golf dashboard.

OP, the Connects2 seem to be a pretty good option. I've seen a similar solution before that also offered the option of A2DP bluetooth and USB as well, but I can't for the life of me remember what is was called.
Yeah I'm going to keep the original radio as putting in an aldi/lidl one would take the look off the dash imo. I'll have to have a search around and see if any irish people are selling the connects2. A couple in the uk on ebay but i'd prefer get one in dublin and pick it up. Ah sure I'll have a look at whats going!

I had good experiences with Xcarlink before:

    Xcarlink

It worked perfect in my Corolla and my friend's Accord as well.

That's the very one I was thinking of earlier! Both the XCarlink and Connects2 are recommend often on the various MK5 Golf forums.

Thanks guys I'll probably go with the xCarLinks. Is it possible to buy these anywhere in Dublin or would i be better off buying from the website?
