Was surprised to see that Gary Murphy took part in the US Open Qualifying competition in Walton Heath on Monday. He had two rounds of 73 and 71.I thought he had retired from golf and am wondering how he qualified for this event as most of the others seemed to be regular tour players.

The only qualification method here is that he is a professional as far as I am aware, think it costs money to play aswell so that might scare chancers off.

I thought he had retired but maybe the bug has bitten and he wants to get going again after being re-energised.

I read somewher aswell that amatuers with a handicap of 1.4(may have been +1.4) or better can also enter the qualification process. Might be a thought for next year Tones?

When will you be finished college? Have you a goal this year for handicap?
