To jog or not to jog?

Looking for some advice here but sadly I fear I already know my answer :(

was never a jogger until the last few months when I decided to use the mini marathon on Monday coming as a goal. Training has been going great and I've been really loving it, jogging about three times a week.

About 10 days ago I went for an extra long jog, wasn't in any pain when I finished but the following jog about 8 minutes in I started getting a pain in my right hip, not very strong or debilitating, I was still able to jog but everytime my foot hit the ground I got the pain. Once I stopped and walked the pain was gone.

I rested for a few days until I jogged again, but this morning when I went for a jog the pain came back, slightly worse this time, and my leg has been in pain since. It feels very dull if I'm just sitting down but anytime I take a step onto it I can feel it! I've been trying to diagnose online but obviously I'm not sure, my symptoms seem to fit most closely with 'hip bursitis' as far as I can see except that before today, I wasn't in pain all the time just when I jogged on it and it took a few minutes to feel it at that.

I guess my question is; is there anything I can do between now and Monday that will a. help to heal whatever the problem is, b. make it safe to jog the mini marathon without the risk of any permanent damage? I'm gutted a tthe thought of not being able to jog it after all these months but I've signed up for a couple more races over the summer and still want to be able to do them.

    any help much appreciated:(

Yes there is something you can do. Stop online diagnosing and get to a real life sports physio asap. They are the only one who have a hope of being able to remedy your problem or advise you on what is wrong.
