Blessed are the meek and HP love

Hi all,
Just had a dream last night and from the dream I remembered
the words blessed are the Meek. Was wondering if people could
explain that a bit more.

Also in last while I have been tuning in to a though that my Higher
Power loves me. When I tune into that though I feel a love comming
from my H.P. and that love encourages me to love others more.
But I have heard little teaching on this subject. Was wondering do any
of ye know anything on that subject that might be usefull. Do you tune in
to the love?

The phrase "Blessed are the meek" can be found in Matthew 5.

5 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.
The Beatitudes

He said:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

If you want to know more about Christianity then Mere Christianity is as good a place as any. Below are links to talks given by Ravi Zacharias, John Lennox and Peter Kreeft. In their own way they discuss Jesus and his relevance. The first is entitled Who Is Jesus - Is He The Truth? The second Christianity and the Tooth Fairy: a law professor questions an Oxford scholar. And Is Jesus the Only Truth?. They may or may not be the best examples. But they are the ones that came to had first.

Why do I mention the above? Because the HP that you speak of seems better suited to the spirituality forum, not here.

Blessed are the Meek is a Beatitude.

A beatitude is basically the first teachings of Jesus while he was on Earth.

Blessed are the Meek, is the first line, and the basis of all his teachings thereafter.

Basically, what he was saying was: If you think you can't go on, if you think 'I can't do this anymore' , 'I am failing', if you realise that your attempts at making your life good are useless, then don't worry, because that means you are meek, and the meek shall inherit the earth. And what he meant by inherit the earth, was his crucifixion of course, and the path he would make to all to salvation. So that now, everyone who accepts Christ, and puts Him (Christ) first, who is able to believe and say, 'I can't do this, but God can' or more to the point 'No matter what I do, I will never be good enough, only Jesus can save me.' will have eternal life in communion with God, which is the greatest inheritance.

Furthermore, I'd like to say that God is a persona, and not merely a higher power like some kind of new age theory. He came in person, to the world, as Jesus. So we have a live person, that people documented (Jesus) who tells us what God the Father or, one true God, is like. If you want to know God, read the Bible, and you cans start with the gospels and teachings of Jesus because he is the Son of God, always with the Father from creation and before.

John 14: 7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”

9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.

The works referred to above are the many miracles Jesus did, which are well documented in the gospels of the Bible. And of course, the greatest 'work' was Jesus rising from the dead on the third day and appearing to his apostles.

It sounds like you are doing just fine. Follow that path of positivity, just try to stay balanced when the tough times hit.

Sometimes the phrase Higher Power is used in AA because the word God carries too much dogma. It's the experience that matters, not the name we put on it.

truth from Jesus--- so i truly tell you this--- any religion teaching heaven or hell as an end are refusing to listen to Jesus and are not of Jesus.

The opinion of every true christian that listens to Jesus over men. The rest are being told they are christian by men who wont listen to Jesus over dogma. All throughout the history of mankind, this is the reality--Noahs day = 99% mislead, the israelites falling from Gods grace constantly = 99% mislead--Jesus,Apostles, christians all murdered = 99% mislead-- the last days = 99% mislead--The road leading to life( eternal) is cramped, few will find it---a very sad reality.

One of the things St paul wirtes in the letter to the Romans is that we are judged on the amount of light given to us. This echoes what Jesus said about much being asked to those to whom much is given...

If you keep asking the Higher Power to give you light and help you, you will find that bit by bit the higher power will reveal more about himself to you. And the more you know and 'tune into' him, the more you will come to understand who you are and your place in all of this. God bless.
