Hi guys tought Id ask for some wise experience here
I recently purchased a Claud butler elite as my first road bike for commuting to work.

While the bike looks great (apart from the white tape getting filthy :( )
Im a little dissapointed with the performance and would like to upgrade a few things on it.
    Mainly the cassette and brakes.
It has an 8 speed shimano set but in a recent visit to a bike shop the person told me I couldnt get a different one is this true?? I was hoping for something that had a smaller sproket as the bike seems to max out around 45 - 50 kph no matter how much I pedal its like being on an excersise bike.

Can anyone advise me on parts that are compatible.
    Cheers

What's your current gearing, i.e. what largest chainring and smallest sprocket size do you have?
