Cloudbackup strategy for a large Truecrypt volume.

    Hi,

So i'm starting to backup my data to Amazon S3 using DragonDisk.

It works great for regular files that don't require encryption. My problem is with a Truecrypt container that has some files in it.

Currently if any files in the volume change DragonDisk will need to re-upload the entire archive, which is not practical.

One solution i've just thought up is to write a script to mount the Truecrypt (TC)volume locally then synchronize the contents with S3. For this i'd probably have to use the DragonDisk crypto. Another concern is that the TC volume password would be stored in plaintext. Not very secure.

Also, as a side question. Are files encrypted with specific software portable. For example I use software A to encrypt a file using AES, can I decrypt using software B if I know it was AES (or can it detect algorithm) and I supply a password.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.
