So I we t to a lock smith this morning about getting the broken car key out of the passenger door. 40 euro he said. Told him was Alright I'll just leave it there.

Does this sound like a good price.

Kind of depends how hard it is to remove, doesn't it?;) Can you see the broken end? Could you get it with a tweezers or something? Or superglue onto a coat hanger?

Is that for a new key too?
40 quid is a lot of its a straight forward job of removing the barrell and working out the key. I assume the car isn't locked?

That is just to take the broken part of the key out not a new one. Car locks no brother.

WD40 and a needle nose pliers? Not had to do it to a car lock thankfully but have had to do it on a bike lock before.

Yea you were shafted. a mechanic would take half that no bother. Its a 20 minute job as long as it will come out. If the key is bent or has damaged the barrel you need a new lock.
