Motor Tax for new vehicles registered on or after 1 July 2008 will be determined on the
    basis of seven CO2 bands.

From Jan to end June 2008 you can choose capacity or co2 whichever is cheaper. From 1st July it's co2 only. So you'll pay the cheap rate on a 2008 diesel.

I'd take the info from motortax.ie as being more accurate.

Apparently the Golf version got into tax band B so it is conceivable that the Leon did also. I suppose the only way to be sure is ask the seller or check the tax disc.
