Social welfare offices don't close on election days, but offices tend to close early, at 3pm, on Thursdays, so watch out for that. You should have received a letter from Social Welfare a few weeks ago about finishing your course etc. But you can sort it out by visiting on Thursday. You will not be making a new claim, just reverting to previous payment unless your financial circumstances have changed or your JSB has run out and you need to be means tested for JSA. Bring documentation from the college saying your course has finished, or finished for this academic year if you are continuing next academic year. If you have to be means tested for JSA for any reason, you would be entitled to claim Supplementary Welfare Allowance from the Community Welfare Officer while waiting for your JSA payment. But if there are no changes from JSB to JSA and your financial circumstances remain the same, the switchover from BTEA should be seamless. You will be reverting to collecting from Post Office and signing monthly.
