Rental accommodation in Perth

    Hi,
    Just wondering if anyone ever used craigslist to source accommodation. Im moving to Perth in June and I am seeking accommodation for a couple of weeks until I get a job. I found an add for rental accommodation on this website. I contacted the landlord via e mail. The accommodation is $500 dollars a week for a 2 bed apt, which seems to be the going rate. I asked for the apt to be reserved for 2 weeks, the landlord got back to me asking for $1000 up front. She sent me on a contract which her lawyer completed. I'm just wondering if it is legit??
    Any opinions would be appreciated.

    Why not stay in a packbackers hostel until you get a job?

    Well myself and my boyfriend are going over, to get our own room and bathroom it costs €110 in YHA hostel. We have been recommended this hostel by a few friends. To stay in this hostel it would cost $1540 for 2 weeks as opposed to $1000 dollars for the apt. I dont mind paying the $1000 dollars up front if I knew it was legit. The landlord sent me on a copy of her passport, she is British, she also sent me on name and address of her lawyer who is also based is London, I googled him and searched for him on yellow pages but to no avail. This person could be totally legit but I just dont want to hand over $1000 dollars for nothing.
