Quicktime Pro MOV to other Conversions

I decided to put a few of my iphone videos together and throw on some music - wasnt as tricky as I thought, though Its probably not going to win any awards!! I have quicktime pro, so just pasted them all into the one file and added some music etc. The completed product is a huge file that does what I wanted it to do. Its .MOV file.

I uploaded to youtube - took forever - and then crashed out at the processing bit!! So i thought maybe it doesnt like MOV files.

So i thought id convert the MOV file to something else (using quicktime Pro Export). I tried AVI, MPEG4, 3gs....all the options that I could. I havent really a clue what the differences are. Anyway, all of the converted files, were alot smaller which was great, but they "didnt work". They play but the video image appears as a partial image - its like on the show catchphrase, where they hide the important bits of the image and u dont get to see whats going on. The sound is all in order....but the film is unwatchable..75% is covered with what looks like a still from a different part of the movie. This is the case in all converted files that I created.

    what am i doing wrong?
