Help! I bricked my android phone

I bricked my Samsung Galaxy Mini (GT-S5570).

I installed an update file on the sdcard rebooted and... nothing.

To be fair I think I made a balls of it. I thought it was a straight forward drop the file, select update and reboot but looks like I bypassed using software to help it along.

Is there anyway to unroot my phone or is it now just a paperweight?

    Thanks.

Will it turn on at all or is it just a blank screen?

There is a failsafe on samsung phones but it's a last resort

are you using rom manager or similar? If you can boot into recovery you should be able to take another stab at installing the rom after wiping cache + dalvik

I can boot into recovery and usually get the Smasung splash screen but then goes blank.

    I didn't use a rom manager

    ok reboot into recovery first, then try the following;

    1. wipe data/factory reset
    2. wipe cache partition
    3. advanced - wipe dalvik
    4. install zip from sd card - then navigate to your saved rom zip

If anything above doesn't work, use this

    Thanks for the help.

You think i would have learnt my lesson however... The reason I rooted the phone was I keep being told its running out of space and figured I would get rid of all the crap I don't use. Got rid of some but do you know of any custom roms that remove QuickOffice etc. Thanks.

if you are rooted then you can use Titanium Backup to remove unwanted system apps.

Get a 32GB class 10 on mymemory, move everything you can(not stuff that has a widget or runs all the time) to the SD, then plonk all your media on there and away you go in a hack.

You can also use System app mover to move apps out of rom to regular phone memory and it is easier to use than Titanium Backup for the operation IMO if that is all you want to do.

Once moved from the system, you can just uninstall them like a regular app.

OP. Dial *#06# and make sure that the IMEI number that pops up on the screen is the same as what's on the white label under your battery.

    DON'T post it here.
