Same story as vw polo. If you can live with the tardy performance then go for it

Personally I think they're a bit nicer looking than the polo, watch out for the models that have the radio and fan controls on the same unit, the fan controls are electronic and often don't work properly, it also limits you when you're replacing the radio

Hi Aquila, as Colm says the display panel gives trouble in these. All the models from I believe > 99 to 02/03 have the radio, fan etc in a central display and they are real poor quality. Problems like the radio coming on for no reason and running down the battery is fairly common.

Also the pedal box is another weakness. Check there is no creaky noise coming from the clutch pedal.

I'd recommend the Fiesta also but make sure you check it for rust especially around the wheel arches. That model is a bugger for it, especially when the newest of that model are 10 years old now.

    The 1.3 is also fine.
    Bullet proof reliablity, but slow.

I maxed mine out at about 90mph on the motorway once. Never again - she was shaking worse than a washing machine!

1.3 is an ancient engine though and less economical/worse on emissions
