I am looking for advice on which photo sharing website is best. I have taken photos and wish to share them between other family members privately without having them available publicly. Which would be best picasa or flicker or any other one.

Dropbox. Check it out. It's free and very point & click.

Unless you have many many gigs of photos that should be fine for you. And you can have public / private folders.

Stay away from Picassa not very user friendly flicker is a nice site to share your pictures from... Nice and easy the pain with picasa is u need a gmail account with flicker u can have a yahoo or even log in with facebook account you can also use iPhoto if u use a mac to link up with your account so you can send your photos from iPhoto right to your flicker account without the need to go into the site with picasa this can not be done

You don't need a Gmail account to see photos on Picasa
I can share an album and anyone I give the link to can see it even if they don’t have a Gmail account

Picasa is very straight forward and there is no upload limits like Flickr. It is completely free and is as easy as drag and drop. Sharing is easy and so is organising and editing of photos and albums. There is a desktop client that can keep you photos on your PC in sync with your online account and you can use the Google+ Instant Upload option on your iPhone or Android phone to send every photo straight in to your online account as soon as you snap the picture

If you just want to share a folder of files and photos then Dropbox or Box are great too but if it’s just for photos then I would recommend Picasa as a great free option.

My Mam can use Picasa. She even uses the red eye removal and facial recognition features without needing assistance, it shows it's not at all difficult.

Agreed, I've set complete novices up with Picasa and cropping, red eye, color balence etc seems to be easy for them. One feature it could do with is allowing you to saved a cropped image as, to avoid overwriting the original (maybe you can?) but appart everything is cool with it,

Picasa never overwrites originals for any of the edit features, it saves them in a separate directory untouched.

You need a Google account... same as you need a flicker account to use flicker or a dropbox account to use dropbox. You don't need to setup an a gmail acc. to use it, u can create a Google account when you register on picasa.

I've been using picasa for years now, have a paid storage plan with it. My folks use it, my aunts use it (one of whom is 76)... They find it easy to use and great for sharing. The picasa desktop software is great too, latest version has some great filters etc. for editing ur pics...

Use Picasa to manipulate the photos on your PC or Mac, then upload them to pix.ie

Last time I checked, flickr would allow a max. of three albums without a paid subscription, there is no such limit with pix.ie
