I haven't seen a mount for an iphone to use as a camera and I'm not sure on the max length it can record. But, I suppose it's a way to try it out. What models are you looking at on ebay.

I would say that it would kill battery life and fill up memory storage on the iPhone too quickly. And the quatly would not be better or much better than a cheap bike camera?

I'd suggest just getting a gopro camera. The iPhone and other cheap bike cameras won't have any stability or shake protection, so your video is bound to be all over the place.

And I don't think I'd trust my 500 euro phone in a 10 euro mount on a moving object.

^ that. Get a shock-proof, preferably waterproof camera that can survive falling off its mount...
