I have used one in the past, as long as its not stuffed to the gills and still fits onto the space then you should be fine.

Hard to say for sure really without knowing the size and weight of the bag.

This link has info about the cabin baggage allowance for Aer Lingus.

    http://www.aerlingus.com/help/help/baggageinformation/

It gives the weight, height, width & depth dimensions of allowable cabin baggage. Weigh your bag when it is packed and measure it. If it is within the requirements, you'll be fine. If it is not, you may be made check it.

I've seen many people bringing them on Ryan air flights anyway !
I'd be more worried about the strikes ?

Is that one of the commuter flights, These have a much smaller cabin allowance as they are a small propeller plane.

I doubt if Cork to Portugal would be considered a commuter flight.

According to the Aer Lingus website, their cabin baggage allowance is the same whether it is a long haul or short haul flight. They only deviate from this for their flights that are operated by Aer Arran.

Sorry, Misread the OP, I thought it was Cork to Dublin. Should be an normal flight so, I think Aer Lingus Regional only do Ireland and UK.
