What was the reason for stoppage in departures and holding of arriving aircraft at 12/12.30?

An Iberworld aircraft ingested a bird into number 2 engine on rotation. The engine failed and the aircraft made an immediate return to the airfield

You can hear some of it on liveatc.net if you search the EIDW archive today at 1100-1130Z... starts around 8 minutes in

Interesting. Thanks for that. I heard EI521 (arriving from CDG) requesting diversion to Belfast and a check on flightradar confirms it did indeed go there. Just wondering why the crew made such an early decision to divert rather than holding for a while to await developments. Presumably, their fuel onboard would have included holding plus diversion to alternate.

There's something very strange about it. As was mentioned in the other thread, they refused to hold and wanted to know about delays in Belfast. Were they carrying enough juice legally?

    AVherald have more details.

    http://avherald.com/h?article=45016ae0&opt=0
An Orbest Orizonia (former Iberworld) Airbus A320-200, registration EC-KZG performing flight IP-3506 from Dublin (Ireland) to Reus,SP (Spain), was departing runway 10 when the crew reported an engine (CFM56) failure. Another crew waiting for departure at the hold short line reported the right hand engine had ingested a bird. The Orbest crew shut the right hand engine down and returned to Dublin. ATC advised other crews they had an emergency situation at the airport with a A320 with a possible engine fire. The aircraft landed safely on runway 10 about 12 minutes after departure, vacated the runway reporting there was no engine fire, everything was normal and they were taxiing on engine #1. The aircraft taxied to the apron.

Nothing strange at all, just a result of planes carrying less fuel around cos it costs so much to buy! On the odd unforseen occasion like this, the cost of the diversion is much less the cost of carrying large amounts of extra fuel on each individual sector, each day, all year.
