Ripplecom recently abandoned their masts at Tulfaris (Blessington), Ballyknockan and Hollywood. They sent the customers in the area this letter...

    NOTICE OF SITE DECOMMISSION

As you may be aware, we have had an issue at the High Site which transmits
your broadband connection due to the lack of a reliable electrical power
supply. Over a period of time, we have deployed a number of various
alternative energy solutions based on solar power. This can be susceptible
to failure during Irish winter nights. Unfortunately, we have had continued
technical difficulties with these solutions and we must acknowledge that
the service is not robust enough to justify the continued transmission of
service from the High Site. Therefore we will be closing the site in
approximately four weeks time. In light of the recent service outages,
Ripplecom will be immediately discontinuing billing for services
    transmitted from this site.

Ripplecom will shortly attempt to provide you with a reliable service from
another site. A Ripplecom Field Engineer will arrange to visit your
premises and attempt to point your connection to an alternative transmitter
in the area. Upon successful re-pointing to another transmitter, your
    service will continue as usual.

In the event that Ripplecom is unable to connect you to an alternative
transmitter, the engineer will inform you and the Ripplecom equipment will
be removed from your premises. In this event, Ripplecom will arrange to
refund you an amount equal to one month's service charge.

Ripplecom sincerely apologises for any inconvenience this may cause you due
to these circumstances which are beyond our control.

    Yours sincerely,

    Ripplecom Customer Service

I have 3 customers receiving Ripplecom/Lastmile BB from their mast on the Shannonbridge powerstation. They were all having connection issues and got Ripplecom to send out an engineer. The engineer confirmed no problem at each of the premises and said it was a problem with the RF equipment on the mast. It would take a few days to get acces to the site.

A week later they were informed by Ripplecom that they could no linger provide them with BB. It's definately not a power issue in this case :pac::D but I think they may abandoning 'less profitable' sites.
