Location of WM 30

In the latest edition of WWE Magazine for June of 2012, there is a teaser of where WrestleMania 30 could possibly take place.

WWE's "The Informer"character writes "WM29 is locked in for N.J./N.Y., but plans are underway for the 30th Show of Shows. The location? Let's just say it's a city of 'Olympic' proportions."

The summer Olympics are taking place this summer in London.

Are these lads stupid? As much as i would love for it to be somewhere closer to home, theres no chance in hell.

Los Angeles has held the Summer Olympics twice, Atlanta once, and St. Louis once, so it could be more one of them thats being alluded to.

    Montréal, Quebec, Canada imo.

They hardly think they would hold it outside The US/Canada?? jesus. . :/

St Louis has a dome that they could use.

Could go for another wrestlemana record. They fit 104 thousand into it to see the pope:P

    Atlanta has a dome also.

I imagine they would want a roof for 30

Atlanta held 27 so I cant see them going back there again so soon.

Id say it will be LA or somewhere in Canada.

My bet is for the Cowboys stadium in Dallas where they'll go after the attendance record.

Has "The Informer" ever got anything right?

best chance is LA in memorial coliseum (which has hosted the olympics twice), vince loves the town and if mania 30 isn't to be in NY the next best place is on the doorstep of hollywood with 90,000 fans

He's been right about the same amount of times as wrestlezone has been with predictions like this.

I'll probably be going to 30 so heres hoping it is LA :D

Ive taken ****s that would do a better job reporting news then Nick Paglino or Justin Labar.

LA seems like the most sensible choice for 30.

I would have thought NY would have been the obvious choice for 30 since 1, 10 and 20 were held there, but MSG is too small for Mania now and since they have it on in NJ/NY next year they'd hardly do it in NY again.

They might. The problem with doing MSG is that it doesnt bring in as much revenue as the bigger 60-70 thousand seaters that wwe have become accustomed to nor does it give as much of an influx into the host city.
Maybe wwe are having 29 in the big stadium in NJ and then give it to msg the next year too as they could get a good deal out of already giving ny/nj some love for 29.

Bring it to Croke Park IMO :P

Imagine all the scobes selling "Yes Yes Yes" tshirts outside it.

"Get your hats, scarfs and the guy who says yes tshirts...and headbands"

    Be class.

vince said after 22 that mania would only be held in stadiums from now on, the lost gate revenue means there is no chance mania 30 is in msg, a mania held in the metlife and the memorial coliseum in LA at last years tickets prices will result in $10m gates, something msg couldn't come close to unless they charged big boxing event prices and if they did that no wrestling fans could afford it

Agreed. It will surely be MSG. WAtched a WM doc on Netflix over the weekend where they talked about the idea of every 10 year anniversary being held at MSG

On Wikipedia they had the venue of WrestleMania XXX as Madison Square Garden months ago, and when this thread cropped up I had a look and noticed that it's gone? Who's to say?!

I cant see them holding 30 in MSG because next years Mania (29) will be held in New Jersey.

Surely they would have went for another part of the country for 29 if they planned on holding 30 in MSG.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,500 ✭✭✭✭DEFTLEFTHAND

Isn't there also talk of possibly holding next years HOF ceremony at MSG? I really can't see them returning the following year if that transpires. As a fan I'd love to see it but its big business and money talks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

I'd imagine for 29 they'll have the HOF and the post Mania Raw in MSG. tbh I think they should take the HOF out of arenas and make it smaller venues, the constant shouting of fans is headwrecking, I was at the one where Flair was inducted and all night it was just "woo" chants even when he wasnt around.

I agree I'd like to see the HOF return to smaller venues. Next year they could hold it in the 'Theatre' at MSG, it seats 5000 and is located under the main arena.

Sure that happens anyway. I've been to wwe shows while ric has been employed by tna and there are Woos.

I would be very surprised if WM 30 was in MSG. Vince would never sacrifice the massive payday he could get from ticket sales in an arena just for nostalgia. Id like to see them do perhaps a yearly PPV at MSG due to its importance to WWE. Call it WWE homecoming or something like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,375 ✭✭✭✭rossie1977

the size of venue won't make much difference for hof, i was at the first hof wwe allowed fans in 2004, that was held in a large hall (probably used for weddings) upstairs in the hilton hotel and even then hhh got heckled for a comment he made about hogan by fans

Next year being in NJ, which is really close to NYC, pretty much counts out MSG for Mania. Even if WWE just charge up the ass for tickets in the 20k arena, I don't think he'd like nostalgia get in the way of doing 70+ fans.

Maybe they'll head to Canada instead. Is there a massive arena in Chicago? That'd be pretty sweet for mania.

The only realistic place in Chi-town is Soldier Field (Capacity 61,500).

Just looking at pics of Soldier Field, here's a shot from U2's concert there in 2009

    6a00df35209a7588330120a5d59a4c970c-800wiu2_01.jpg

Looks pretty fantastic. Although 60,000 capacity; Vince'll probably say no, since he could likely sell another 20,000 tix.

Well, that's 60k for football. I'd imagine you could throw on another what? 5k for ground seats?

60k in the stadium with another 10-15 on the pitch maybe? I always thought Mania 19 was the best looking one arena wise, just looked different to the standard football stadium , was very cool.

thats because its a baseball stadium

on soldier field yes it would be perfect for mania problem is no roof and weather in chicago in march/april is far more unpredictable than new york even, i was at mania 22 and it p**sed the night of the show

Isn't it a bit too early to go back to Chicago anyway with 22 having been there?

Didn't they go back to Florida 4 years later? They've had a few in Texas together aswell, albeit not the same cities.

Maybe it's going to be Beijing at the Bird's Nest. on a serious note though, they should do at least one Invasion PPV every year in a different country. The amount of money that would generate would be ridiculous.

They do house show tours in other countries. They don't do PPV's because of time zones which would hurt buys in their main USA market due to the PPV airing in the middle of the day or late a night. Plus there's the matter of "the plane ride from hell" which is why they stopped doing the Rebellion and Insurexion PPV's in England every year.

Agreed. Its not just the ticket price but the merchandise sales too. Done my 4th mania this year and have to say its the best organised yet. From the the fan axxess to the HOF onto mania itself the sales on merchandise must have been incredible. Even the Raw the stalls were mobbed. There is no way 20,000 even with large ticket prices could bring in this revenue.

I reckon i spent as much on souvineers for myself and presents for the kids, friends and family , than i did on the ticket.

WM 1 was in MSG, WM 10 was in MSG, WM20 was in MSG. I highly doubt they're going to buck the trend. Their International PPVs [ie the SS in Wembley where Davey Boy went over Bret for the IC title] have always done poorly. I can't see Vince wanting to take a chance on WWE's equivalent to Superbowl Sunday.
