hi my wife owns a ford fiesta lx 1996 and it was making a few reving noises while she was driving it according to her on and off for awhile and sometimes when she was changing gears while driving.yesterday she went to leave work and when she put the car in gear car didnt move.i went out to have a quick look at it and i can change gears but it doesnt move, doesnt seem to be making any strange sounds when im changing gear.i was thinking the gear box could be gone.could it be anything else and if it is the gearbox is it expensive to sort out and could u use a secondhand gear box,any advice would be greatly appreciated. also is there any way to get the car in gear so i can drive it home rather than towing it.

More likely to be the clutch from your description.

It seems to be pretty far gone so you will have to tow it or have it put on a truck / trailer.

The labour is the biggest part of the cost of replacing a clutch. As the clutch is a wearing item, it is always replaced with new parts.

I would expect you would pay €400ish to get it replaced.
