Mods feel free to move if in the wrong place:

Basically for the last number of weeks i've had a niggling injury in my lower right leg, its not my calf muscle, it feels like something in the area under my shin, it's like a dull pain, its not overly sore buts its constantly there, i can run on it ok, it gets worse after a run. sometimes the muscles around it tighten up, even when i'm walking.. i've tried resting it for a few days to no avail.

i'm not looking for medical advice, just wondering has anyone had a similar problem. also not sure if i should go to my doctor or see a physio.

Running 3/4 times a week, do the occasional 10 k run, training for a half marathon later in the year.

Shin splints I would say. Rest is best for that I think.

don't think its shin splits, i've been running for a long time now, its not like i'm starting out, could be wrong though. do shin splints affect the surrounding muscles? also the shin itself is not sore, its the area under it kind of between the calf muscle and shin.

As the guys say go see a Physio or physical therapist.

Sounds very like an injury that Vinny Mulvey had, took him 18 months to get an answer from the experts. As he is now a physical therapist he would be my first port of call, he will know everything about that area of the lower limb. Based in Ashbourne, google him.
