Very strange that a car that cuts out wouldn't have a single fault code stored. My car kept cutting out and not starting when the throttle body needed cleaning and it had plenty of faults for all different reasons related to the fault.

What else happens that might be an indication? Do the revs race or anything like that?

I'd say go to vwaudiforum.co.uk and ask over there.

Its 08 83,000 km on it, It kind of judders then stops if i can get a run on it I just press the pedal for more fuel and it will keep going .but come to a junction or a traffic light just dies.
Bye the way its a DSG if this helps.

And it still does this even after the fuel pump change? How many tanks of fuel have you one through since the problem started?

I'm don't think so it all started when the pump burned out.

Get that throttle body cleaned. Its probably dirty and not closing properly when you stop. Exact problem with same symptoms on my A4.

.... was it the cutting out that prompted the fuel pump change? If not what did and how long ago was it done?

Lads just got it back from mechanic he put another fuel filter in and it seems fine. Must have been crap that was still in there somewhere.
Many thanks to all that replied.

That's what I was thinking. It might be worth running the tank right down and change the fuel filter again in a week or two.
