A Sheep Called Enda

President Barak Obama is a charismatic leader. So much so, that when he says "Stimulus Good. Austerity Bad." - Leaders of the free world follow like sheep to the slaughter. Some, like Francois Holland follow brazenly - in blissful ignorance of their impending fate whereas others follow more timidly like our own Enda Kenny.

The vulgar excess of the naughties was caused by borrowing which in turn caused debt. More borrowing (i.e. stimulus) will therefore cause more debt and more misery.

The Celtic Tiger was caused by austerity (the Tallaght Strategy). In order to be austere, we must completely stop all borrowing and cut spending to the point where we have a budget surplus. A budget surplus is the only true source of stimulus for any economy.

Short sighted "economists" say that austerity cuts growth. Thats a bit like saying "how can we jump up a step if we have to bend our knees first."

A "Yes" vote in the upcoming referendum will enable our sheep to follow the Sheppard and saddle us all with billions more in borrowed money which must be paid back with interest. By voting "No" - we can force the government to live within our means. Borrowing isn't working.

Quite aside from the irrelevant title, this is frankly just a blog post, and doesn't cover anything you couldn't have said - and probably have said - on an existing thread.

This is not discussion, or an invitation to discussion - it's just "blah blah blah vote No."

    moderately,
