Name that TV Show?

Sorry if posted in the wrong place, just wondering if anybody remembers a show from around 1990 well that's when i saw it so it could be older,

It was a period drama mini series set in Australia,
It was set approx, 1920 and finished about 1950

The main character was a man about 20 to start and his rival an older man about 40 who battle it out to discover oil mainly and they buy sheep ranches, the younger guy has an affair with the daughter of the other man, they may have married, when the younger guy gets old he starts coughing up blood while sheering a sheep, I think he got TB.
It also had great theme music.

Not a lot to go on, but its been doing my head in for weeks and no matter where i look i can't find it, I'm not sure if it even was an Australian production or maybe BBC.

Thanks, but not that, this was about 6-8 episodes, the guy in the picture looks like the main characters rival.

An alternative suggestion is 'The Thornbirds' maybe? I don't remember the details you describe but it was set in Oz around that time period and had sheep-sheering in it.
