Driver dead?

Hit my driver today on the 11th and it made a horrible clicky sound unlike ever before. Even the 2 lads I was playing with turned their heads to see what had happenened.

It's a stiff shaft and it obviously feels very rigid when swinging it or just trying to wobble it in my hand looking at the club head in front of me.

When I looked closer at it after the shot I couldn't notice anything wrong with the face and I can't hear a rattle inside. What I do notice is that the shaft is so wobbly now when swinging it. It feels like swinging a regular flex and the club head wobbling back and forth a good couple of inches when I just shake it in front of me.

Is it even possible for this to happen or am I imagining it. Can the club head become loose in some way to ruin the flex of the shaft etc?

I couldn't get a drive off after that hole as I constantly felt like I was leaving the club head way behind my hands at contact.

Sounds like the shaft might have gone, id have it checked before playing again in case you clock someone with it (or loose it)

I dunno can a shaft go like this unless its internally damaged, but I suppose it could happen.

It could be the hozzle thats damaged or the bit of the shaft thats inserted into the hozzle. I would look to see is there any excess play here also.

Unless its 5+ years old you will probably get a like for like replacement if you bring it back. A golf club should last at least 5 years considering it probably cost 300 lids.

Brought it back to American golf earlier and they put me into the booth with my driver and a few others including the new ping i20....

Turns out my current driver was going straighter and further than the others I used.

That means the club is perfect as all the launch angles etc were fine.

Suppose that means I was just a retard today and probably hit a stone he said :)

This happened to me last year, it was a glob of glue where the shaft attaches to the head that came loose and it would make the click noise on and off.
Club was replaced FOC by Callaway.

Happened to me few years back.
Hit driver of the deck on a par 5 and there was a weird little sound, thought nothing of it cause I was too busy drooling over the shot.

Next tee box the shaft snapped when I unhinged on the downswing, splintered my shoulders, extremely painful.

I'd get it checked, might be the shaft, might be the inside of the clubhead has shattered, but best to have it looked at ;)
