I'm selling my 2 year old Giant Defy 4, its a great starter bike but something I just don't have use for anymore. It is a Medium / Large which fits me perfectly at 6 foot and would fit people in or around that height. Also the bike is in perfect working order.

Full spec on the Giant web site here: http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-gb/bikes/model/defy.4/4861/38962/

Included in the sale are pedals and Mavic Aksium Wheelset which cost around €200 new.

I'm looking for €415 ovno and I'm based in Cork. Let me know if there are any questions. Thanks.

i could offer €200 in cash plus a mountain bike in full working order similar to this http://c0.dmlimg.com/1fc1c1c2db5852e08ffc380475e263360db74cd4efa5bd936745c1b4bce1c70f.jpg (that is not a picture of my bike,it is just a picture of the same model and colour). i can post pictures of my bike later on if you are interested.

edit: forgot to ask - if you had cheaper wheels and normal pedals, would you consider reducing the price?

offer 300. Would also trade a DMR trailster mountain bike plus a few bob against it. Crap just seen your in cork. any chance you'd be in dublin with it?

    Nice bike... nice wheels..

What difference did the Mavic wheels make can I ask?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 895 ✭✭✭Dubba

@ flying11 - Thanks for you offer but I'm looking for a cash only deal.
Regarding you question for original wheels & pedals - the price drop would be negligible, I thinks the bike is a good deal at that price. The Mavics are a great wheelset - durable enough for Irish roads and look good too!

    @ friso59 - As I said to flying11 I'm looking for a cash only deal.
Cheers for you offer but I'm looking for closer to €425. Also I don't make regular trips to Dublin but do go up from time to time.

@ mp31 - Thanks, yea its a lovely bike and the wheels make it seem like your riding on air :pac:
Seriously tho. both the wheels and bike are solid, perfect for someone who's getting into the sport. The wheels have low profile rims and bladed spokes which supposedly help with aerodynamics and are a nice upgrade from the pug ugly, heavy, cheap stock wheels.

Hi John37, The frame is a Medium/Large 54cm. I also have a Planet X Medium and the Giant would be a bit bigger so it could well fit someone just over 6ft.

I should find out in the next couple of days when next I'll be up in Dublin, possibly before the end of the month, I'll let you know.

    Hey,

On the med/lrg the seat tube is 54cm but the top tube is around 56cm so it should suit,I had a med frame size and seat tube was 50.5 but the top tube was 54cm,I'm 5'10 and a med suited me so I'd say a med/lrg might suit someone 6',have a look on the giant web and you will see what size rider it will suit,

    Zip.

Thanks Zippe! Can I suggest tho if someone is unsure of the size and want me to bring the bike to Dublin, that they check out the Giant Defy bike in a local bike shop if possible. Giant Defy bikes is pretty popular so I'd imagine they can be found in a lot of LBS.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 895 ✭✭✭Dubba

    Hi cluainbolg,

I'd go as low as €350 but that would be with the original wheels or as low as €400 with the Mavic Aksium Wheelset. And yes I could meet you have way.

    Hey,
If your selling the mavic wheels let me know,I'm looking for a wheelset for my sons bike,

    Cheers zip,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 895 ✭✭✭Dubba

    Will do Zippe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 895 ✭✭✭Dubba

I have someone interested in the Mavic Aksium Wheelset so putting them up for €120 ono. No tyres or cassette and they would need to picked up / postage taken car of from the buyer.

The price of the Giant Defy 4 with its original wheel is now €350 but that as low as I'll go, no lower offers thanks.

To sweeten the deal I'll throw in a saddle bag, a Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford SS Jersey XL and Shimano RD76 road shoes for the clipless pedals.

I can offer the 415 for the bike including the mavic wheels. I'd need it to be delivered to dublin though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 895 ✭✭✭Dubba

    Hi friso59

I accept your offer but I wonder if it would be possible for you to meet me halfway or even a bit closer to Cork?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 155 ✭✭friso59

I'm going to be in clare for the tour de burren on the 23rd June but other than that I'm kind of stuck.

is this bike still available im in Kerry could you meet in Ballyvourney, maybe take 400 including Mavics??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 895 ✭✭✭Dubba

    Hi Rockjock,

I'm not able to get the bike up to Dublin for friso59 and I don't think he can make it to Cork so I would be able to meet you in Ballyvourney and I'd take €400 alright.

I have the bike in for a service and should be ready tomorrow.

Just a quick question - are you confident on the size? Its a Medium/Large effective top tube of 56cm. Suited for somebody 5.10 to 6ft.

Where in Cork are you, might do for my backup bike. 5'11 living in Crosshaven.
