Last Saturday while representing my club in the Pierce Purcell in St Helen's I left my bag outside the locker room while getting ready. Took a few practice putts and soon after headed out on the course to get ready to tee off. Went to my to take my second shot on the first and my titliest 52 degree vokey wedge had been stolen from my bag. I was gutted as it was only new and I loved it. Unfortunately the CCTV did not cover where I had left my bag. A lesson learned by me and hopefully whoever has it now has the worst luck ever!!!!

Thats a low stunt alright, may the dirtbag shank every shot he ever hits with it;)
I actually had my entire set, waterproofs, bag, shoes the lot stolen from the locker room when i was about 16 or 17, they wernt worth much but as a student they were valuable to me as i didnt have any money to replace them:mad:
i'm still hoping to catch the scumbag 20 years later:(

That stinks, may the thief be struck by lightening while hitting it.

On that note I'd also be very careful leaving your bag outside of clubhouses while changing, signing in scores etc. I was talking with the competition secretary in Luttrellstown recently and he advised against leaving bags outside the clubhouse. On more than one occasion they've had people drive in and swipe full bags of gear into the back of a van/car.

Since hearing all these horror stories I now sign in, change etc before taking the clubs out of the car and once finished the round lock the clubs away again before submitting scores and visiting the clubhouse.

It's deplorable you can't even run into the bathroom now without the risk of someone stealing your possessions. May these low lifes die roaring.

When playing inter club comps away I bring my bag into the locker rooms or place it outside the pro shop, or in view of a CCTV.

Being asked to remove my bag gets a swift "no"

Its an unfortunate risk that you have to take, at some point you leave your bag unattended at the start or end of a round. Don't get embarrassed by what you do that makes you comfortable that your equipment is ok, just do it

Id make sure to report it to the club you were playing at, report it to your club also. Youll be covered under golf insurance, but just make sure you report it.

If there wasnt a society out at the time, some clubs will make a nice gesture to ensure you dont give them a bad name

    Albeit too late ;)

I also have to say, when the golfing community gets annoyed, my word do you get articulate

"MAY HE WHO HAS TAKEN THY CLUB THAT IS NOt HIS, FIND HIMSELF STRUCK DOWN WITH RIGOMORTIS OF THE PENIS, AND FOR EVERY STRIKE OF THOU CLUB HE MAKES, BE IT ONE LESS SEXUAL ACT HE WILL RECEIVE DURING HIS LIFE!!!"

    Go on the lads!

Bummer. Not good at all. I changed my equipment this year and took out a golf sure policy for €20 as there is not a chance in hell I could replace if stolen.
Some clubs include this insurance in the sub and others don't but I think it's well worth getting

The sad thing about all this is that it was probably a lad in the same boat as me down to represent his club. Don't think it was a lad in off the street because the course is off the beaten track and weather conditions that morning were not great! I had a nice 56 degree wedge sitting beside it worth about €40, wonder why he left this behind!! Whoever took it knew what he was taking!!

Further on this there are predators lurking in the changing rooms also. I was playing with a member of Powerscourt recently who was recounting a story from his home club. A friend of his was playing in a fourball and after the round played in poor conditions the members proceeded to the changing rooms to shower. While in the shower an opportunistic and brazen thief delved through their pockets and stole wallets, phones and mobiles and apparently one of the members had quite a bit of cash on his person. I don't believe the thief was ever caught either as for obvious reasons there are no cctv coverage within the changing rooms.

That thief had some neck though to rummage through their possessions while all four of them were within ear shot. An awful pity one of them didn't forget something to return and catch the thief.

Always a good idea to lock away your possessions in one of the lockers while taking a shower and bring the key into the shower cubicle with you. You can never be too careful.

Mmmm eye opener. I leave my stuff all over the place both outside the clubhouse and valuables in the locker room.

Might need to rethink that strategy....

I was told about (I think) two guys who left their bags at the corner there between the 5th green and 6th tee at Grange Castle. They went and hit their drives but when they came back to their bags they were gone. Some scumbags were waiting in the field next door and took them when the guys were on the tee. Nowadays I see guys actually leaving their bags right out almost on the fairway where they can see them, and I'm just waiting for the first time one of the bags gets hit with a drive.

    Sorry OP about the loss...w@nkers!!
I had the opposite experience lately I lost my gps a Skycaddie sgx somewhere between the 18th and car park. I didn't realise it till the following day and when I checked with the club someone handed it in to the bar. FairPlay it was a junior member, which reminds me I must catch up with him this week with some provs.

Thankfully there are still honest people out there.

Check your house insurance, usually they will be covered.
