Ive just had keyhole surgeries done for a labral tear of my hip (both sides) 1 and 4 weeks ago.. been having pain for years and had multiple misdiagnosis and even an operation for gilmores groin..
i know its only early days but i still seem to having pain around the area where i had the tear plus im experiencing stiffness around the glute area now!..also had part of the head of femur shaved down as there were boney promimces protruding out causing a pincer deformity which probably led to the tears...
wondering does anyone out there have any experience of this type of injury.. even better any football/sport related experiences.?.

    Ouch :o

I had a suspected tear that turned out to be bad inflammation - I was going to an excellent physio who I did a pile of rehab with and it hasn't bothered me since. Have you got a physio plan or anything like that?

Apparently it's becoming quite a common but often midiagnosed problem now that so much s&c is part of athletes' programs. It's not necessarily because the athlete is doing anything wrong, more that deformities are common enough causing the labrum to wear down easily.

    Hi Gem,

Would you be able to PM me that excellent physio?! I also have a hip labral tear (according to mri and the experts), but staying away from surgery though as to be honest I suspect my pain may be unrelated (more to inflammation and scar tissue), and not bad enough yet for surgery. Have been to physio before, but thinking of going back again soon, so might try out your person if location was fairly close etc.

    Thanks a mill,
    Simon

i had seen 2 different physios over the past 2 years, done a pile of work, also seen an osteopath and a prolotherapy doctor, went to santry for mri and several cortisone injections none of which helped at all so surgery was the only answer...
i do have a post op rehabilitation plan which is supposed to take 4 months... just very stiff around the hip joints and glutes ever since the 2nd op...

@ TKD SC, Sure, it's Emma Gallivan at East Coast Barbell. As far as I know she's one of the Leinster coaches too. Probably easiest to contact her through ECB.
