    Hey
Decided to turn the power rack around which will give me more space. the 7ft bar is almost touching the wall on both sides, so I'm going to buy a 6ft bar.
Did anyone buy one from Irish Lifting? and if you did is the handle the same width as a 7footer?
    Cheers!

I have blught both from Irish lifting, when mick ran it. Both bars the same, difference is in the length on end where plates hang

I really thought the first reply would of been "about 12 inches" or similar.

It should be the same bar width, but with smaller sleeves, maybe a slightly shorter bar depending on who makes it. And will weigh less, 16-18kg I'd say.

Thx, apparently from what I've been reading here, people are having issues with irish-Lifting, I got a reply from them saying that the grip area was the same for both bars and that they'll have them in stock on friday.
Didn't know at the time that Mick had moved on, so I asked if I could call to the storehouse in Sandyford to pick it up, like I normally do, no reply yet.....

Can't wait to find out what Micks up to next, real gent, went to his place for a chrome bar and metal plates and because he was out of stock, I ended up with coloured weights and a power lifting 7 ft bar, awesome!

I had always thought the grip area changed, the weights are listed on irishlifting and make more sense now, as the difference between bars seemed very high if only the grip area was changing.

Stating the obvious here -but if you have lots of small plates you might want the full size to be able to fit them all on. I wish I had longer standard dumbbell handles.

Yeah, I have standard db handles and all I can fit on one is 30kgs, I'd love the adjustable ones but they cost a mint, anyway I try to sub the db lifts with a barbell/ez curl lift, not ideal but better than nothing.

My local gym also has dbs upto 60Kg, so I've started going there for back day. I'd mainly be using the 6footer for squats and benching, I'll still use the 7footer for deads, reverse rows etc.
Although the gym is well stocked, nothing beats going next door to the power rack in the garage and not having to look at the posers.

I have used my tricep bar

Hold it in the centre unknurled bit, it just drops down like a farmers walk bar

Its good for doing single arm shrugs.

I have a bit of steel tube I could use as a dumbbell, it has no collars or stops though, I might just use hose clips or get 4 collars, 2 which act as stops.

Funny you should say that, I have tried using the EZ curl bar for 1 handed rows in the past ^ ^, very touch and go balance-wise.

Also have a cable attachment is I need to do 1 handed shrugs, but had to stop my trap work because they were growing too fast. I seem to hit my traps indirectly doing shoulder and back work, so they are still growing just not as fast, thank god.

Was thinking of getting the triceps bar at some stage though, I don't think it's anywhere as wide as my EZ which is the width of the cage. At the moment my rack is sideways in a narrow garage, which means moving the bench a lot, whereas with the 6ft bar I can point the rack along the length meaning everything will be easier.
