Just wondering how many of ye get that pain around the middle of the back area after a cycle?

I went for my longest spin so far today and have this strain around the mid section of the back, similar to the kind of pain you get after a bad matteress experience.

Is it common to get these back strains after a long time on saddle?

this could be many things ,a strain, weak muscles ,tight muscles. i would advise to go to see a physio as back pain is never good and you need to find out what exactly is causing it and how to solve it. for example i was getting a numbness in my lower back which turned out to be tight muscles in my rear and after a trip to the physio and some stretching exercises each day the problem is gone after only 2 weeks.

    Hi,

    I had the exact same.
went to a chiropractor and found out that my glutes & hamstrings were super tight. She (chiro) said that most cyclists - unlike other sports folks - don't usually stretch before & after a long spin. And end up with tight glutes.

Just because something works for one person does not mean you are not risking further injury by copying it.

Back pain/strain=seek medical advice - Boards rules do not allow it to be sought or provided here though and I am required to close the thread
