    Hi all,

I've an automatic seamaster that has started losing time since yesterday, it's fully wound but lost 15 mins in the last hour.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

In serious need of a service by the sounds of it. If it was a sudden thing it could be because of an impact? 15mins an hour loss is a pretty serious deviation.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I set the time again and left it overnight and its lost no time, very odd.
Service will have to be done alright. Any idea of a rough cost?

Yep, 359 euro (last november at the CHF exchange rate) for an automatic service from Omega.

May have increased since, the question is if it's a co-axial would an independent service it?

There are a few guys in the UK who will service a co-axial. Ger had his PO Co-Axial serviced in the UK before selling it to me.

If you send it to Omega to service, will they also polish the case and bracelet at that price?

Had a service last year on a Bond Seamaster. A service will include a polishing of the bracelet at that price.

Although the watch came back unpolished, in the same condition as before. In fairness they sent it off site and had it back polished a few hours later.

Are you sure the crown was fully in the first time round?

Not sure about Omegas, but on some of my watches when you set the time in a rush it can happen that a sloppily re-set crown/not fully screwd in crown has the mechanics sort of inbetween modes and while the watch will seemingly run it won't do so properly and may even stop for a while when you're not looking.

If I were you I'd make sure to exclude human error before sending it off for a costly service.

Its possible alright, but the watch is a few years old and probably due a service anyway.
It kept the correct time for all of today which is promising.
