Visiting Andorra ??

Last Thursday while heading north on the D137 in the La Rochelle area we were directed off the road at a roundabout by half a dozen Le Douane Francaise (the customs). The first question the asked was "had we visited Andorra" and the second was "had we any tobacco products or spirits on board"

Now how big is 'big brother' in France, we were in fact on the way from Spain but had not come through Andorra. the interesting thing though is that we were subject to the customs check for stuff from Andorra some 600 Kms north of that country.

We were treated with the utmost courtesy throughout and fortunately had no offending items on-board, but beware any of you who might be planning to stock up with cheap spirits and smokes in Spain or Andorra and travel back through France
