    Hi folks

Problem stupid vw golf mk 5 lock on rear passenger door is locking but not opening all the time rather waiting for it to completely fail and lock shut . I have purchased a new solenoid actuactor for it. Have the door card off. Took out the 2 screws that holds the unit in. I cant seem to drop unit down . Im sure its connected to door handle but unsure after this

Can someone give me a solution on how to drop the actuactor out? any video links would be helpful. Actually any help is appreciated

    Thanks
    D

You are going about it the wrong way. You have to take off the door skin to change the lock. You actually don't even have to remove the door card from the inside at all.

    How does one do that?

Torx head screws hold the door skin on. Open the door and you will see them. Obviously you will also have to disconnect the door handle from the lock before you take the door skin off as well.

Thanks George. I see the torx heads to be opened and the plastic at side of needs to come off. The door handle is the next problem . how do i unhook the door handle ? Do I take off the plastic clip beside door handle on the outside?

    Sorry for the stupid questions:)

I have had the same issue. Was getting ridiculous quotes of between €500 - €850
Main dealer wanted to cut door card. Break lock and replace both.
A lot of people wanted to cut the door card which is fairly costly to replace along with a new lock.
I got a locksmith Called Steve Guard to replace mine.
He knew exactly the problem. Door deadlocked
Based beside Croke park. Basically broke into the car (No damage caused)
Broke the lock and replaced with one I had bought from main dealer.
So got out with final cost under €300.
    Happy Days !!!

@ freshpopcorn. Where did she get it done at that price. Did that also include labour in getting door open and new lock?

It did and it was at a local garage in North Cork. I'll send you a link to it if you live near there.
