Audio Driver Outdated

Hi wondering if i could get a bit of help please.

I recently installed window 7 on my toshiba l20 267 and have lost all audio in the process. Its done me proud now for the guts of ten years and comes in handy when i cant use the desktop. with the exception of the audio its
running smooth as anything, although windows exp index is only a 1 . its not a big deal as all its used for is work, however id like to have audio if possible.

I have tried various drivers to no avail and then emailed toshiba ,they gave a link to all the drivers which i had tried already and then said since ive changed the original os there's little they can do. They also suggested trying the component manufactures website for a fix.

So two questions, how do i know which component im looking to fix? and failing this could there be any other possible fix?

Have you tried to update the drivers through Device Manager?

Try Windows Update, can sometimes pick them up, can you google the hardware ids for the sound card? May help find a good driver

Have tried update i few times but end up just coming round to a message saying, windows found software for you device but encountered an error , Conexant AC Link Audio, the system cannot find the file specified. I have downloaded this driver and tried installing from the source file ,no joy, and also updated again to receive the same message.

That seems to be the driver to use as ive come across it quite a bit while searching, just have not been able to get it to work. Any ideas? Is there away to manually update and specify which file to use?

How would i go about finding out about the sound card and id's, without having to take it apart if possible cause that is a pain in the hole?

go to device manager-highlight the problem device-properties-select details-drop down menu-hardware id,copy and paste the hardware id into google
