As low powered tube amps go this looks like one of the best. It has fairly standard rotary controls - gain, bass, mids, treble and master - but what separates this amp from the rest are the five switches that change the tone stacks. You have vintage/modern, British/AC/USA, Hot/Clean, Bright/Normal and Tight/Deep, all of which have difference effects on the tone, boosting certain frequencies of the EQ, cutting others and the like.

As small amps go, it's kind of pricey at €659 on Thomann. It's also made in China, but what isn't these days?

I also like the look of the Laney Lionheart 5w combo, which is about the same price.

Maybe I'll sell my ENGL and get both.
