Replacement power adaptor for Wireless headphones station

    Hey all.

Got a pair of Sony MDR-RF810R headphones at Christmas. They lasted two days before the cat chewed up and ruined the power cable for the docking station.

I cannot find a replacement cable for the life of me - I've purchased two universal power adaptors but neither has a connector that fits into the port.

It's a bit of a desperate last attempt, but can anyone suggest where to get a replacement? It's a 12v charger, with what seems to be roughly 6mm port width, and a very thin pin in the middle.

    The headphones are here: http://www.sony.ie/support/en/product/MDR-RF810RK/specifications
But Sony are looking for crazy money (more than the headphones are worth) for just the cable.

If I can provide any more detail, please ask and I'll do my best to answer.

    Thanks.

I'm not sure this would work but would consulting an electrician be of any use? I remember someone telling me that they got an electrician to fix a severed or damaged cable from a drill by stripping back the cable sheath and intertwining the copper/metal cable. I'm not sure if it's possible (or very safe) but maybe someone in the electrical forum would be more knowledgeable about it and if it's feasible or not.

An electrician friend of mine actually tried this but the cat screwed up something in the connector beyond repair, so it'll have to be a new charger.

Just breaks my heart that the charging unit and headphones are perfect, but the charger is the problem and seems impossible to source :(

I'll say contact sony, but I know from experience they that they have some of the worst customer support of any company I deal with so it'd be a real long shot of them being able to replace your charger...but maybe :P
