Yes, I have taken family members cars before. It's the car being tested not the driver.

Thanks...Why does it say the driver has to bring their licence so?

Make sure that they bring a valid ID with them now! I didn't bring my ID in March and wasn't asked but a lot of new threads cropping up that since 1st May ID is required for the test or it is an automatic fail. No refund etc.

Anyone can still bring the car however. Which kind of makes it a moot point about ID being needed. I doubt they are even taking a photo copy of the ID either. Get them to bring the log book too.

I brought my mother's car and I was asked for my licence as I was the driver of the car - so make sure who ever brings it has their licence! They didn't bother looking at the log book.

They require ID so that they can say the issued a cert to so n so if needed. But the thing is some people are showing ID and noone is making a copy of it in some cases. A passport will do but generally if you're driving you need to have your licence on you.

Someone made the point on another thread that the latest push for ID is to try to crack down on certain people bringing all their cars to a specific tester. This is to cut out fraud. No good if no record of ID is kept though.
