Homeplugs not working?

    Hi,
I just bought two 85mps HP01-A2 homeplugs from an eBayer in england.

When I plugged them in and set everything up they didn't work.

The homeplugs dont even light up.

Could there be a reason for this ,or are they just simply kaputt ?

    Thanks

One of the lights should be for power. If its not coming on then they're not getting any power.

Maybe something blown inside, or of course the LED circuit itself could be out. Seems strange that both would fail.

For £21 it was a bad buy anyway given that you can get TP-Link PA211KIT for £34.90 new on Amazon.

Well if the power LED isn't even coming on then clearly they're not working. That should come on regardless of whether or not a connection is made.

I don't think there is a power LED

In that case you'll have to find another way to verify whether they are working or not.

One of the lights should correspond to activity through the ethernet port, so when you connect the cable to the LAN port on your computer, you should at least get some LED activity.

Try plugging both units into the same powerstrip. Ordinarily you should never use homeplug with a powerstrip but this is just for the sake of seeing if they pair over the shortest possible distance. If there's no LED activity at all they sound dead to me.

    Just tried it, and nothing...

The Ethernet port (2) that i have one plugged into doesn't light up either.
Blah i'll end up having to get a 20m Ethernet cable.

If you have one plugged into a surge protector they won't work

I tried plugging them each directly into the wall socket but still no activity on the modem.

Have you tried connected one to the main ethernet port on your modem (one that you know definitely works)
